Dusé Coffee.
Fighting for Mental Health Nationwide.
Grounded in Community
Before there was TCF, there was Dusé Coffee Company. Dusé Coffee was founded 2016 in Medellin, Colombia on a family owned coffee farm. Founder Iyasu Dusé relocated temporarily after assisting his aunt who was struggling with schizophrenia at home. "Through this trial I saw first hand the pain, suffering, and loneliness those experiencing mental illness face." Upon returning home that he would use the platform coffee provides to help those who believe they are out of reach and alone. Combatting mental illness became the focus and mission as coffee served as our creative approach in reaching people.
Impact through coffee
"Coffee serves as our bridge connecting our resources to those in need."
2016 - 2021 Dusé Coffee was known for providing each customer with the mental health emergency contact information specific to the state in which the shipment order took place. "We encouraged customers to keep their bags after use saving the information for a rainy day if ever needed."
During the 2020 quarantine mandate Dusé Coffee served as a staple piece within the space of mental health in Georgia, creating a suicide prevention hot-line while working with nurses within Emory and Grady programs in Atlanta to help people through the period of isolation.
Bridging the Gap
As the demands rose, Dusé Coffee & sponsors went to work providing relief to thousands of people who lost hope. This put our on a national stage resulting in the expansion of our service in ten states.
Just Vote
During the 2020 elections, associate members of the DNC, Just Water, and Adidas provided Dusé Coffee with thousands of hygiene, extreme weather, and sanitation kits, as well as water & other resources. With the help of our volunteers were able to reach over 3,000 people in need including veterans throughout Atlanta. This was done as a means to help people where they were at, while letting them know they weren't alone in their situation.
Caring Cups
Remember You are Loved!
Another part of our mission is to remind everyone within reach that there was someone, somewhere, thinking about them. In addition to receiving the emergency contact information customers would receive a hand written message from someone within Atlanta, Georgia fighting the same fight.
True Community Foundation
In 2021 the decision was made shift our focus entirely onto bridging the gap between meals and the children at home during quarantine. In doing so we temporarily stopped production with Dusé Coffee for the greater good in order to see this through. In honor of our first cause we continue to partner with local companies within our industry to raise awareness and advocate for mental health throughout the country.
